Lesson 1 – Creation

Art: Draw or paint your impression of creation. Label your drawing and copy the Scripture reference on artwork.
Art Appreciation: Begin a study on the impressionist artist, Claude Monet. Use some of his art prints (purchase postcard size), for example, “Impression of Sunrise.” You may continue this study using six separate artworks by Monet. Then move on to another artist of your choice or continue with Monet through this entire unit study.
Music Appreciation: Begin a study on any of the classical composers listed on page 32 under Music Appreciation. Take the entire unit study to immerse yourself completely in the composer’s life and music. Read a biography about the composer and write a written narration. Listen to selections from the composer’s works.
Creative Writing:
1. Write a song or poem of praise and wonder to our Creator.
2. Write the story of creation in your own words.
3. Take 6 words from your Creation Vocabulary List and use them to create a story of your own.
Research Writing: What does “day” represent in Genesis 1? What is the word’s origin (Greek or Hebrew), and from where our calendar week originate? Explain.
